Complyzy is in pre-launch. These terms govern your use of complyzy.com and the free URL scanner during our early-access period. We will update these terms before any paid-plan launch and notify users of material changes.
Important — Informational Service Only
Complyzy provides automated, informational website-monitoring results and implementation guidance. It is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice, a legal opinion, a compliance certification, or a guarantee of legal compliance. Automated results can be incomplete or inaccurate and may not reflect your specific data practices, visitors, jurisdiction, or website behavior. Review all results and consult qualified legal counsel before relying on them.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using complyzy.com ("Site") or the Complyzy website compliance scanning service ("Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Site or Service. These Terms form a binding agreement between you and Complyzy ("Complyzy," "we," "us," or "our").
2. Description of Service
Complyzy provides a read-only public-website scanning and intelligence service. When you submit a public URL, Complyzy fetches reachable public HTML pages and analyzes them for observable signals related to:
- Privacy-policy link presence
- Cookie-consent mechanism presence and third-party script detection
- "Do Not Sell / Share" link presence
- Basic accessibility heuristics (e.g., missing image alt text, form labels)
The Service returns informational findings and implementation guidance for you to review and act on independently. Complyzy never modifies, edits, publishes to, or otherwise changes your website, theme, plugins, or hosted content. All changes are made by you.
3. Not Legal Advice
The Service is an informational tool only. Nothing in the Service, scan reports, guidance, policy templates, code examples, or any communication from Complyzy constitutes legal advice, a legal opinion, a compliance certification, an accessibility audit, or a guarantee that your website meets any legal requirement.
Privacy, accessibility, and data-protection laws vary by jurisdiction, business type, data-handling practices, and customer population. Complyzy's automated scan reflects only publicly observable HTML signals at the time of the scan. It cannot assess your internal data practices, contracts, applicable law, or actual compliance posture.
Consult a qualified attorney before making compliance decisions for your business.
4. Scan Limitations and Disclaimers
You acknowledge that the Service has significant technical limitations, including but not limited to:
- Only publicly reachable HTML pages are scanned; logged-in pages, checkout flows, and private systems are not accessible to Complyzy.
- JavaScript-rendered content, dynamically loaded cookies or trackers, and consent behavior that varies by browser state, geography, or session may not be captured.
- Scan results reflect a point-in-time observation and may not represent current or future website behavior.
- Third-party script detection is based on pattern-matching of publicly visible HTML; scripts loaded dynamically after page render are not observed.
- Accessibility heuristics are automated indicators only and are not equivalent to a formal WCAG audit or ADA compliance assessment.
- Results may contain false positives or false negatives.
Complyzy uses status labels such as "Observed," "Potential Gap," "Needs Human Review," and "Unable to Verify." These labels do not constitute a legal determination. Complyzy will never label a website "Compliant" or "Non-Compliant."
5. Acceptable Use
You may use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:
- Submit URLs you do not own or have authorization to scan.
- Use the Service to scan private, non-public, or password-protected systems.
- Use the Service to harass, stalk, or gather information about individuals.
- Circumvent rate limits, attempt to overload the scanning infrastructure, or use automated means to misuse the Service.
- Resell, sublicense, or redistribute scan results without our written permission.
- Use the Service to generate content that makes false legal or compliance claims.
6. User Submissions
By submitting a URL, you represent that you have the right to submit that URL for public scanning. You are responsible for ensuring your use of the Service complies with applicable terms of service of any scanned site.
We scan only publicly reachable pages. We do not access login-protected areas, admin panels, or non-public content. Complyzy does not store the content of scanned pages beyond what is necessary to generate and briefly retain scan results.
7. Waitlist and Email Communications
By joining our waitlist, you consent to receive email communications from Complyzy related to the Service, including early-access notifications and product updates. You may unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email or by contacting privacy@complyzy.com. We do not send unsolicited commercial email.
8. Intellectual Property
All content on complyzy.com — including text, design, logos, and software — is owned by Complyzy or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without our prior written permission.
Scan results and reports generated for your submitted URL are provided for your personal or internal business use. You may not republish scan results as legal certifications or compliance proof.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, COMPLYZY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AND COMPLETENESS OF RESULTS.
WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT SCAN RESULTS ARE LEGALLY SUFFICIENT, ACCURATE, OR COMPLETE.
10. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, COMPLYZY AND ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, AND LICENSORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO REGULATORY FINES, LEGAL COSTS, LOST BUSINESS, OR DATA LOSS — EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
IN NO EVENT SHALL COMPLYZY'S TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) $50 USD.
SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW EXCLUSION OF CERTAIN WARRANTIES OR LIMITATION OF LIABILITY; IN THOSE JURISDICTIONS, OUR LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Complyzy and its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from (a) your use of the Service, (b) your violation of these Terms, or (c) your violation of any third party's rights.
12. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Complyzy is organized, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. You agree to resolve any dispute with Complyzy by first contacting us at legal@complyzy.com to attempt informal resolution.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by posting an updated version on this page with a new effective date and, where appropriate, by email. Continued use of the Service after the updated Terms take effect constitutes your acceptance.
